bookey books.

saw this on urbanoutfitters.com... yes, occasionally i'll check out urban outfitters. a total guilty pleasure, but there are worse to be had certainly.

anyway, rather than pay the 80$+ to grab this from UO, I'm now hunting for my favorite vintage book covers to do this myself. i went to a store near soundscapes tonight, but couldn't come up with anything meaningful or really stunning. this is the kind of thing where i'll be hunting for some time, i think. worth the time to get it just right.

In other news, I just acquired a really great print from german abstract paint willi baumeister.
it's lovely, these muted blues and beiges, very jazz era. and i got it for a dime because some moron at the vintage store steamed it. if i just press it beneath some glass, it'll be good as new.

scandinavian pottery

after investing in buying a matching dish set (poole: twintone blue and white/dove grey) I've mentally decided that while the set is beautiful and will be gorgeous for winter dining, i need a fun summer set, for barbeques and whatnot. I have a serious problem, obviously.

So this coming Sunday I'm heading out to the market to hunt for some scandinavian dishware. I've been doing some research, and Figgjo is my favorite. I learned about them on Bloesem's wonderful vintage Scandinavian pottery what's what.

''Figgjo was founded in 1941, and is located in Figgjo, near Stavanger, on the west coast of Norway. Figgjo’s delicately illustrated ceramics are characterized by the stories they tell. Collections have names as Saga, Viking, Lotte, Daisy and Corsica. When you put Figgjo on the dinner table your guests will never be out of conversation… the illustrations really fire up the imagination and you will never get bored looking at the amazing Norwegian craftsmanship. These are just some of my favorite designs, they are so colorful and just bring you in a good mood, thinking of a spring picnic or summer garden party…''

i obviously have no choice in the matter. how delightful are these little guys? positively whimsical. that being said, my poole set is pretty lovely too. mixed with my piecemeal brown transferware, it's like a seafoam & chocolate dream.

when did this happen to me? my old blogs used to be about rock and roll and being sad. I'm either growing up, or developing a compulsion. or both?

in addition, there are 6 very overpriced blue colored drinking glasses at the antique store next to the drake that are calling my name.

compulsion.
